TerrasBlog - Putting the 'F' into Football...

Lifestyles of the rich and the famous

"Weymouth FC top of the league and playing well."

Not the first installment in a new feature called TerrasBlogGOLD which is reviewing the 1998 league winning season, but here and now and in the words of Feeder it feels "so damn good".

Whoever started the chant of "who the fcuk is Geoff Butler?" has my upmost appreciation. How far we have come in such a short period of time.

I usually dread the walk back from the shops reading the NLP, but having been ultra critical of it in recent months, credit where it is due at the moment. Especially with the CiG on Superstars feature.

(On that subject, can we keep the theme from Superstars as our run out music?? It is a great tune and is original)

Whilst we are praising the Non League Paper, my spies tell me that the don of this mafiosa, Tony Williams has been sighted at the Wessex, good for him. Long may you ignore Yeovile and Tivvy in favour of the Terras.

Whilst waiting for the designer to put the finishing touches to our Muprhy's Butler t-shirt (due out in the new year), a couple of new products have been added to the TerrasBlog store (everyone else is doing their Christmas shopping adverts, why should I be any different!!!)

Get ahead...

...Get a TerrasBlog hat!!!

Also new for the winter months is the "CiG Hoody"...look mean on the tough streets of Weymouth!! It has the classic CiG logo on the front and Claridge 9 on the back. More at the store...

That Friday feeling...

Ahh the smell of bacon and sausages and the pull of the cricket on sky sports... http://www.ecb.co.uk/

Even better news is that it is raining in Sri Lanka at the moment so there is no chance of us getting bowled out for 88 again at the moment.

I watched Superstars last night, maybe instead of Steve Claridge we should have had Simon Browne on there?! He is an outfield player, goalkeeper, cricketer (how quick can you get to the sub-continent Browner??!!).

I noted in the members section the other day that the correspondence is a bit slow at the moment. Here is the link...keep in touch and let me know what is good/bad/indifferent about the blog.

Right then, its time to pop in the toast, turn the bacon and continue design work on the Geoff Butler t-shirt.

Laters

The final countdown

Nope I am not talking about the last couple of days before the big top of the table clash between the Terras and Hinckley, rather the latest bit of merchandise that has been sold on e-bay via the official unofficial website.

Go Paolo, dont forget to ROCK THE NIGHT!!

Europe-METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Ian Ridley has started turning the Leviathan around. Too right Mr Chairman. This club is so far removed from the old Terras that it is incredible.

Thinks back to Des Bulpin, Terry Bennett et al...seems a long time ago doesn't it??

Also the club shop page of the website has had a face lift, not before time.

One cautionary word though...

Please no!!!

How to beat the Hinckley hoodoo...

...

I know we managed to beat these boys from peanut hugging country earlier in the season, but if my memory serves me well. We have yet to beat them at the Wessex.

My over-riding memory is of Dream Team star Danny "The Shed" Potter getting dinked by that Jamie Lenton in the FA Cup.

In fact that Lenton dude loves playing the Terras as he scored in the match at the Knitters home ground earlier this term.

So how do we beat them?

Two words... SUPPORT & PATIENCE.

We are a better side than Hinckley, if we play to our best we will beat them. We must play our part and we must be patient if the breakthrough takes time.

COME ON WEYMOUTH!!!

I can't wait.

Isn't it nice to spend the week enjoying the build up to a big game rather than dreading another relegation scrap?

Speaking of relegation scraps I see that fool Geoff Butler could be about to kill the hopes of Chippenham by becoming their manager (and possibly commercial manager too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I have already checked the fixtures and if he (a) gets the job and (b) is still in it! he will be back to the Wessex in March.

Terrasblog is already planning a new t-shirt to add to their range for the occasion. It is top secret for the moment but keep an eye on our shop for details.

If there aren't many updates this week it is because I am genuinely excited by the biggest league game at the Wessex since those Easter fixtures against Newport and Bashley in 1998 when we won the league.

We're on top of the league, looking down on the maggots...

...as the Carpenters once sang.

What is it about girls loving their bland music about postmen and crap like that?

Find me a woman who doesn't cry at their movie and I will have found my soulmate!!

Speaking of bands which we sort of are. I haven't done any reviews or tips recently, so here goes.

The Darkness, you either love them or hate their tongue in cheek glam rock, but far from being a one trick pony they actually have some depth in their reputoire (if that is how you spell it).

Look out for "Friday Night" which is the next single off the album and is about school days. Brilliant, I can imagine the 30 somethings getting all bleary eyed over this track.

Album wise I would still advise you to add The Libertines up the bracket album to your collection. The only thing that lets it down is the absence of dont look back into the sun, the recent single.

If you like dance music then bugger off, its crap!!!

Bringing it back to the beautiful game, we sit proudly on top of the league and can look forward to playing Hinckley next weekend.

I say look forward, until earlier in the season these Barcelona lookey likeys had the indian sign over us. Thank god for last minute goals and thank god for Stevie Claridge.

When Simon Browne's name is read out next weekend, it should be greeted with a chorus of "Englands number 1, Englands Englands number 1" Quality.

Speaking of England, what a cock up this squad has been. I wish I was going to OT tomorrow, if I took my boots I might get on!!!

What is unusual about this thread?

I love a good quiz, unfortunately this isnt one but can you tell me what is strange about this thread on the Weymouth FC Independant Forum????

http://www.confguide.com/terras.mpl?action=View+Thread&thread=1340

Do you give up????

It's simple, at the time I put this blog together (0725hrs 14/11/03), there are no pathetic, sarcastic comments in the thread from Tizz and Hodd (or Elton & Furnish as I like to call them!!!

And as for this lie by Furnish...

http://www.confguide.com/terras.mpl?id=8198/

"Pure fluke my arse", I bet both those muppets have email alerts going off all the time so they dont miss anything on a message board that isn't their own clubs!!!

As the Clash sort of sang, "will he stay or will he go", Mark Robinson has been to hell (well Salisbury) and back this week. Is he going on loan, will he make his mark on the reserves, stay tuned...

Anyone noticed that the bloody kids aren't deterred from roaming the street at night??? I thought a cold haloween would keep them in front of their PS2's until spring time...and what is it that means they wear t-shirts at this time of year and huge coats and woolly hats in the summer???

STOP PRESS- Muppets issue statement.
"We as representatives of the Muppets would like an apology from the TerrasBlogger from comparing us to Rob Hodder and Sean Tizzard. We maintain that the main difference between them and us is that we are funny and they most definitely are not..."

http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:X4UuyhEyNUwC:www.startsiden.no/magasin/2001/06/08/muppet.jpg

Stadler & Waldorf? or Tizzard & Hodder???

Maggots Sportsmans dinner cancelled (exclusive)

Dorchester Town FC Chairman Eduardo Belt has revealed that the County Town minnows are having to cancel an upcoming Sportsman dinner at the Shavenue Stadium.

"Its a real blow for the club, we know that league leaders Weymouth have had to reschedule Tony Adams but our guest speakers are so busy nowadays that we cannot fit them in."

Terrasblog did try and contact Ian and Jimmy (believing Belt to have booked Saint and Greavesie), but look who we found...

http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:kxJRcUDP9ocC:www.henderson-management.co.uk/KRANKIES_files/img1.jpg

The Krankies- Cancelled Dorchester gig.

FA Cup regrets?

I know I go on about this but the FA Cup weekend has been a difficult time to watch very poor non-league sides in the first round proper and not see our boys.

If we win the league or the Trophy I will probably shut up, but until then expect me to mention it some more...(Sorry)

Merthyr must be sick of the sight of us? 9 goals past them in a week must make them as angry as when they thought they'd got a footballer from us when they signed Jason Rowbotham!! (Only kidding hard-man!!)

Didn't the worse player to pull on a Terras shirt Dean "50p head" Birkby go there as well?

Earlier in the season I am sure some Weymouth fans would have thought we could complete a hat-trick of donkeys to Tydfil with "Alan" Partridge but the lad has come good of late.

It would be very hard at the moment to make a decision about who has been the best CiG signing...

I think on yesterdays showing Buckle, but that would be harsh on Phillipot and "Alan"...or maybe "Florence".

Hair today, gone tomorrow???

Any excuse to print a picture of a fat American with a mullet eh? ha ha ha ha ha (Picture from http://www.hotmullets.com/

It did get me thinking, where are the great hairstyles in the Terras line up nowadays?? such as the David Laws curtains... I remember the mid 90's when Waldock and Hutchinson looked like the hair bear bunch along side Duracell Mark Boulton...They've all got bloody crew cuts now...

So come on Stevie Claridge, grow a flat-top or something...

Speak soon...

PS on the Superstars game linked here on the site, has anyone noticed that the cartoon Ewan Thomas on the intro looks like he is shagging???

Have a look...

"Hangover the road my friend"

...At least I think thats how the song goes.

The only thing that is keeping me from my sickness is this incredibly addictive Superstars on line version of Top Trumps.

What a game Top Trumps was can you still get them??

Play here... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/superstars/trumps_game/default.stm

In other news, Terras legend Mark Robinson is off to Salisbury City on loan. All the best Curly, come home soon...

Finally a very funny picture from the Ohec...

Da Da Da Daaaaaaaaaa Da Da, Do Do Do DO Do

Not too much to report today I am afraid. The reason for the singing is I am watching Superstars.

Speak later...
